What is the damping value?<\/h2>\n\n

The attenuation value of these ear muffs is 22 dB SNR. SNR stands for Single Number Rating and represents the average attenuation for the frequency range relevant to the human ear (125 to 8,000 Hz). Thus, with the ear muffs on, you may \u201csubtract\u201d 22 dB from the ambient noise. <\/p>\n\n

In practice, this means the following: an average classroom produces 72 dB, something that is perceived as disturbing and unpleasant. In fact, for humans, a noise level of 50 dB or less is pleasant. With our hip ear muffs on, you attenuate the sound of 72 dB by 22 dB to 50 dB, because 72-22 is 50. This is how unpleasant becomes pleasant again. <\/p>\n\n
