Phonak filter wind & weather is a filter that phonak uses on hearing aids to cover the microphone openings. Covering the microphone openings is necessary on some models so that the microphones are not damaged by outside influences. The filter ensures that dirt and moisture cannot damage the hearing aid.
The filters should be replaced when they are dark gray in color. Replacing the filters in a timely manner will prevent noise reduction or reduce sound quality.
Important: The three protective strips are designed exclusively for Phonak hearing systems to protect the advanced microphones and the battery air intake from dirt and moisture. The service life of the protective strip is several months, depending on the environment (humidity, dust, perspiration, etc.). The strip cannot be cleaned but must be replaced regularly.
Your hearing system should not be used without the protective strips. If inserted incorrectly, the device loses its moisture resistance. The following maintenance tips can ensure that
you can continue to use the protective strips for longer: Do not attempt to clean the protective strips, as it may impair the acoustic and protective properties. The protection system consists of three identical parts. Always replace all parts at the same time.
Hair spray, makeup, etc. can damage or clog the protective strips. Take off your hearing system before applying makeup. Avoid touching the protective strips when inserting the hearing system or using the program switch.

The hearing system sounds softer than usual
Sound quality has decreased
Understanding speech in noise has become more difficult
It becomes more difficult to determine the direction of sound
After some time, you will learn to recognize when a protective strip needs to be replaced.
