Important: Temporarily no pairing possible between Widex BTE R D hearing aids and Bluetooth accessories

At Horend Goed we like to keep you informed about all relevant developments regarding hearing aids and accessories. We find it important that you, the user, know where you stand – especially if you notice that something suddenly no longer works as you are used to.

We recently received an important technical notification from Widex that we would like to share with you.

Bluetooth accessories temporarily not working with some Widex hearing aids

Are you using a Widex BTE R D hearing aid and suddenly can’t manage to pair your favorite Bluetooth accessories? Then you’re not the only one. Widex has confirmed that there is currently a technical issue with these devices manufactured from November 2024.

What exactly is going on?

A modification appears to have been made to a hardware component of the Widex BTE R D hearing aids. This modification comes from an external supplier. As a result, pairing with Bluetooth accessories is temporarily not possible.

These include the following Widex accessories:

These accessories normally pair perfectly with your hearing aid, but with the models produced as of November 2024, this is not currently possible.

How do you recognize if your device has this problem?

Did you recently (late 2024 or early 2025) receive a Widex BTE R D hearing aid and fail to pair with your Bluetooth accessories? If so, there is a good chance that your device is under affected production.

Notice that pairing does not work? Please contact our customer service team – we will be happy to help you.

Will it be resolved?

Yes. Widex is aware of the problem and is currently working on a firmware update that will enable pairing. It is still unknown when this update will be available, but as soon as more is known, we will notify you immediately.

Until then, it is not possible to pair the new BTE R D hearing aids with the Bluetooth accessories mentioned above. If you have purchased accessories with your hearing aids, it is wise to wait to use or purchase until the update is available.

What can you do?

We understand that this can be annoying, especially if you just got a new device or wanted to purchase an accessory. Here’s what you can do:

  • Check your hearing aid purchase date. Was the device delivered after November 2024? Then the problem may apply.
  • Please contact us if you are unsure if your device falls under the relevant series.
  • Wait to purchase new accessories until it is certain that coupling is possible.
  • Have your device registered with your hearing care professional so you will be notified immediately when the firmware update is available.

We think with you

At Horend Goed, we understand how important ease of use and good connectivity are in modern hearing aids. Bluetooth functionalities really do make life a lot easier. That makes technical hurdles like this all the more annoying – but fortunately there is a solution in sight.

Our tip: keep your device well maintained and feel free to come by for a check-up or advice. We’ll make sure you don’t miss a thing, even if something doesn’t work right for a while.
