Oticon MiniFit DETECT Ear Grips – firm and secure in your ear

As a user of a RIC or hearing aid with a MiniFit speaker, you know that correct seating and stability are essential. The Oticon MiniFit DETECT EarGrips are special retention hooks (also called “sport locks” or “sport grips”) that help keep the hearing aid firmly in place, especially during movement, speaking or jaw movement.

Suitable for the MiniFit DETECT receivers in the compatible systems, these EarGrips are available in three power variants: 60 dB, 85 dB and 100 dB.

What exactly are EarGrips?

An EarGrip is a flexible plastic “loop” that is slipped over the MiniFit speaker (receiver) before you place the dome (or dome tip) on it. The grip bends slightly into your ear cartilage or the outside of your ear – creating a slight tension force. That tension force acts like a “clip” or “anchor” and prevents the hearing aid from slipping out of the ear, especially when talking, playing sports or other movements.

Because this grip is not on the sound line (it sits in front of the dome), it does not affect the sound itself as long as you choose the right power level.

Power variants: 60, 85 and 100

  • 60 dB – for lighter applications, when the receiver/speaker has less power or the load is low

  • 85 dB – a mid-range variant, suitable for most standard applications

  • 100 dB – for heavier applications or with stronger speakers / greater power requirements

It is important to choose the EarGrip that matches the power rating of your speaker. The power rating is often printed on the receiver itself, below or next to where the dome sits.

If you choose the wrong strength, the grip may give too much or too little tension: in the first case it may be uncomfortable or damaging, in the second case it does not work effectively.

Who is the MiniFit DETECT EarGrip suitable for?

This retention solution is intended for Oticon users (and possibly compatible systems) with a MiniFit DETECT speaker, among others. The EarGrip is often used in Sport or active settings, or for people who find that their dome alone does not provide sufficient stability.

The product page states that the EarGrips are compatible with receivers in the MiniFit DETECT line: 60 dB, 85 dB, 100 dB variants.

The grip is useful for:

  • Active users (sports, hiking)

  • Situations involving a lot of movement (e.g., talking, chewing)

  • People with lose-fitting domes that sometimes go loose

  • Users who want an additional “security clip”

Advantages and features

  1. Extra stability
The EarGrip prevents your hearing aid from slipping out of the ear due to the extra anchoring.

  2. Unobtrusive design
The grip is subtle and transparent or in a neutral color so that it does not visibly stand out.

  3. No loss of sound
When used correctly and at the correct strength, sound quality remains unaffected.

  4. Easy to mount
Simply slide the grip over the receiver and then mount the dome over it.

  5. Many choices of strengths
The 60 / 85 / 100 variants allow you to match your system.

  6. Packed per 5 pieces
Usually supplied in sets of 5 EarGrips per variant.

Maintenance and replacement

Although the EarGrip itself is fairly durable, it is wise to replace it from time to time. Through use, they can wear out, bend or lose their grip action.

Recommended replacement intervals:

  • Replace the EarGrip as soon as you notice your hearing aid beginning to loosen, or if the grip becomes discolored, brittle or less resilient.

  • In an active use profile (sports, sweating), consider changing once every 2-3 months.

  • Combine grip replacement with dome and filter checks to maintain optimal performance.

Purchasing tips

  • Check the power rating (60 / 85 / 100) that fits your receiver before ordering.

  • If in doubt: send a clear picture of your receiver and dome to your hearing care professional or to us, and we will help you choose the right variant.

  • Keep spare grips in your supplies so you can quickly change them when they wear out.

  • Assemble carefully: do not force the grip, subtly bend with gentle pressure.

Summary:
The Oticon MiniFit DETECT EarGrips are smart retention clips that hold your hearing aid extra securely in the ear without disturbing the sound image. Available in 60, 85 and 100 dB variants for optimal compatibility. Perfect for active users or with uncertain fits. Replace promptly for lasting comfort and security.
