What does a Resound hearing aid cost?
Unfortunately, the cost of a hearing aid is not straightforward. What you pay depends on the hearing protocol, your health insurance and your deductible. This may sound complicated, but of course we are happy to explain it to you.
The hearing protocol
The hearing protocol determines how the hearing care professional should provide a hearing solution according to the Health Insurance Act. Through a questionnaire, hearing test and conversation with the audiologist, you are assigned to one of five categories. These categories represent your degree of hearing loss and the related necessary needs. If you choose a hearing aid from the category assigned to you, the health insurance will reimburse (part of) the costs.
Basic insurance
The basic insurance covers 75% of the cost of your hearing aid, provided you no longer have an outstanding deductible. If you still have this, it will be deducted first and the health insurance company will pay the rest of the 75%. Suppose your hearing device costs € 1000 and you still have € 100 outstanding deductible, then € 650 will be reimbursed from the basic insurance.
The co-payment
The remaining 25% is called the co-payment. In principle, you pay this yourself, unless you have supplementary insurance for this. If you have no outstanding deductible and you have supplementary insurance for your own contribution, then your hearing aid is free, so to speak.
Our hearing care specialists always calculate in advance what a hearing aid will cost you, so there are never any surprises!
Out-of-category hearing aids
Some hearing aids are not covered by the hearing protocol. We call these out-of-category hearing aids or hearing aids from the private market. They are often the more advanced devices with more extensive features. They are not covered by the hearing protocol because these features are not considered necessary, but of course you may want these features. You always have the option of purchasing an out-of-category hearing aid, however, when you do so, it is not covered by health insurance and you pay for it entirely yourself.
